FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Women's Tennis opened their dual season with five singles wins and two doubles wins over Azusa Pacific on Saturday afternoon at the Fullerton Tennis Courts.

In singles play, Natalie Duffy, Eira Tobrand, Juliette Daries, Mariia Nikitash, YuSeung Suh, and Kaytlin Taylor were in action. In doubles play Duffy and Tobrand paired up, Garcia and Suh teamed up, and Taylor and Daries paired up.

The Titans set the tone early, with two doubles wins. Both matches that the Titans won ended up with identical scores. Suh and Garcia earned a hard-fought win on court two, where they won their match 7-5. Daries and Taylor also went point-for-point in their match and came out winners, 7-5. Duffy and Tobrand also competed for the Titans in doubles play, but fell 6-2 in their match.

Fullerton continued their winning ways in singles play. Nikitash completed a perfect day when she dominated her match, only dropping a single game on court five, winning 6-1, 6-0. Taylor also completed a perfect day, she won her match in straight-sets fashion as well, coming out on top 6-3,6-2 in her match. Tobrand continued the winning trend for the Titans, winning her singles match in straight-sets as well, 6-3, 6-4.     

The Titans took their singles matches to decisive third sets. Daries won her opening set 6-1, fell in her second set 2-6, before rallying and earning the win in the third set, 6-4. Suh played the match of the day in singles on court three. The senior lost her first set 4-6, clawed her way back in the second to a 6-3 win, before taking the third set in tie breaking fashion, 7-6 (10-5). Duffy also took her match to three sets where she dropped her first set 1-6, battled to a second set win 6-4, but came up just short in the third and final set, falling 7-6 (6-4).  

Up Next: The Titans are back in action on Feb. 2, when they head down to San Diego to take on Point Loma at 2 p.m.
