Titans Continue Play at CSF Spring Invite

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Women's Tennis continued play at the CSF Spring Invite on Saturday afternoon at the Fullerton Tennis Courts.

The Titans had four singles participants compete against athletes from San Jose State and three doubles teams compete against two teams from Grand Canyon University and one from UC Irvine on day two.

In singles play, Natalie Duffy, Eira Tobrand, Juliette Daries, Mariia Nikitash were in action. In doubles play Duffy and Nikitash paired up, Tobrand and Yuseung Suh teamed up, and Kaytlin Taylor and Daries paired up.

In singles play the Titans were paired off against San Jose State out of the Mountain West. Nikitash fell in her match 6-0, 6-3, while Daries also fell in her match 6-3, 6-0. Duffy took her singles match to a decisive third set where she came up just short, falling 0-6, 7-5, 1-6, while Tobrand also took her match to a third and final set, but fell 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.

In doubles play, Taylor and Daries took down Pavani and Mansonhing of UC Irvine 6-2. Tobrand and Suh faced off against Strombacha and Puehse of Grand Canyon, but fell 6-1. Duffy and Nikitash also took part in doubles action, but lost 6-1 against Prudhomme and Schmidt of Grand Canyon.

Up Next: The Titans are back at home tomorrow, Sunday Jan. 23 for the third day of the CSF Spring Invite. Doubles play is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with singles play at 11 a.m.
