Titans Welcome Four New Recruits

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team welcomes in four new recruits for the 2019-20 season.


YuSeung Suh | 5'5" | Seoul, Korea
YuSeung (Julia) Suh joins the Titans after a phenomenal freshman year at Fullerton College (JC). With the Hornets, she sported a 23-5 record for the year eventually finishing Top 4 in the CCCAA Championships as well as being named the 2019 ITA Rookie of the Year and an All-Academic Scholar-Athlete. She was also the 2018 Fall ITA Southern California Regional Singles Champion, as well as the 2019 Orange Empire Conference MVP, All-Conference Co-Player of the Year, and a 2019 ITA All-American Team award recipient. In national rankings, she is ranked 8th in singles and 4th in doubles, posting three tournament victories along with three other Top 3 finishes. Internationally, she was a member of the U-18 Korean National Team placing Top 3 in four separate junior tournaments.


Alex Kalachova | 5'9" | Melbourne, Australia
Originally born in the Ukraine, Alex Kalachova comes to Fullerton after spending her freshman year at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. At UNLV, she helped the Rebels win the Mountain West Conference and make it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Internationally, she has been ranked as high as No. 90 in women's tennis in Australia. She has won two junior international Grade 5 events in doubles (Canberra Junior International and New South Wales Junior International) and was a finalist in one singles Grade 5 event (Canberra Junior International). She has also previously represented New Zealand at the B2 Junior ITF in Fiji.


Camila Garcia | 5'5" | Lisbon, Portugal
Camila Garcia joins the Cal State Fullerton family from Lisbon, Portugal where she made a name for herself on the courts. She currently ranks 1303 in the WTA rankings and has been as high as 1224. In 2018, she won the Vila de Conde Junior Cup and the Incourt Cup in Armenia, both of which were Grade 5 doubles events. She has also represented Portugal each of the last two years in the European Junior Team Championships. In her career she has been a national team champion (U-12), two-time national team runner-up (U-14 and U-16), and a national team semi-finalist (U-18).


Misaki Kobayashi | 6'0" | Yokohama, Japan
Misaki Kobayashi comes to Fullerton from Yokohama, Japan where she attended Nittai Kashiwa High School. She has played tennis at the highest possible level for the last 10 years. Competing in Junior Tournaments all over Japan, she has been ranked as high as 850 by the ITF.
