FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans will spend their weekend competing at Matador Invitational Tournament hosted by CSUN. The tournament will take place at Matador Tennis complex and will start this Friday at 9am PT.
The tournament will feature singles and doubles play. In singles, the competition is divided in 7 brackets from A to G. Same thing for doubles play, as there will be 7 brackets from A to G. Each bracket will feature consolation brackets for the ones who do not win.
The Titans will be represented by Luxizi Meng, Jadie Acidera, Eira Tobrand, Tiani Jadulang and Petra Such. They will all compete in singles play and doubles play. Sarah Nuno will also join the Titans and play in doubles to complete the third duo.
The first games of the weekend will be in doubles while three Cal State Fullerton teams will be looking to pass the first round.
At 9am PT, Nuno and Acidera will play against San Jose State University duo of Sendar and Kobayashi in Doubles A. At the same time Meng and Tobrand will team up against another SJSU team featuring Culibrk and Malsert in Doubles B.
At 9:30am PT, it is Jadulang and Such who will face Betancourt and Stewart from Azusa Pacific University in Doubles F.
If any of the Titans doubles team move on to the second round, they will play right after their first game: this Friday at 9:45am PT for Doubles A and B, and 11am for Doubles F.
Luxizi Meng will play the first singles game for the Titans in Singles B bracket. She will face Maria Gonzalez from Sacramento State at 11:30am PT.
In Singles C, Acidera and Tobrand will be playing at 12:30pm PT. Acidera is on a 3-win streak and she will be looking to keep that streak alive facing GCU Celia Morel. Tobrand will be playing against Taylah Beckman from BYU.
The fourth and last game of the day for the Titans will see Tiani Jadulang in Singles D facing Matilda Vidgren from SJSU in the first round. Jadulang currently owns a 2-2 record in singles play.
