FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton matched a program record with its 4-1 victory over Loyola Marymount on Wednesday at Titan Tennis Courts as the Titans won their eighth consecutive match to start the 2017 season.

Fullerton's 8-0 start to the season is the best in program history, while the team's eight-match win streak matches a program best set a year ago from Feb. 3-March 7.

Loyola Marymount dropped to 3-2 on the year after the loss, suffering its first defeat to a Big West Conference opponent this year in four matches.

For the seventh time this season, the Titans claimed the first point by winning the doubles point.

At No. 2 doubles, Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin defeated Julia Norlin and Camila Tumosa 6-1, to improve their season record to 6-1 overall. LMU scored a win at No. 3 doubles to make things even, but the Titans No. 1 doubles team of Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela scored a 6-3 victory over Elvira Juravliova and Jessica Perez to clinch the doubles point.

Portalatin put the Titans ahead 2-0 with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Siobhan Anderson at No. 3 singles. Portalatin is on a three-match win streak and is 6-1 on the year.

LMU cut the Cal State Fullerton lead in half with a win at No. 5 singles, but Danielle Pham defeated Micheline Aubuchon, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 6 singles to put Fullerton ahead 3-1. Pham is 6-2 on the year and on a four-match win streak.

Sarah Nuno's come-from-behind 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win against Anna Romeka clinched the fourth and match-winning point for Cal State Fullerton at No. 4 singles. Nuno has won her last six singles matches.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action at 1:30 p.m., Friday, at Titan Tennis Courts to host Eastern Michigan.
