NORTHRIDGE, Calif.  – Sophomore Masako Makiba advanced in the Singles B Draw with a 6-1, 6-1, victory over Westmont's Cade Sorenson on Friday at the Matador Collegiate Invitational.

Makiba will play Long Beach State's Natalia Munoz at 10:30 a.m., Saturday in the next round.

Sophomore Luxizi Meng suffered a 6-1, 7-6 to CSUN's Emma Roenholt in the first round, and will play a consolation match against UCR's Tracy Van on Saturday.

Makiba and Meng also suffered an 8-3 doubles loss to the team of Maren Helgo and Mari Udagawa from Long Beach State and CSUN, respectively.

The pair has a consolation match against Cal Poly on Saturday morning.
