ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif.  – Sophomore Karla Portalatin found victory three times on Thursday in the first day of competition at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational hosted at The Jack Kramer Club.

The native of Santa Domingo started her day partnering with fellow sophomore Sarah Nuno to defeat Georgetown's Casey Marx and Sara K. Swift, 8-6, in the doubles round of 32. The pair will play the tournament's third seed, Caroline B. Dailey and Mia Horvit of South Carolina at 9 a.m. on Friday.

In singles action, Portalatin used three sets to move past Northwestern's Jillian Rooney, 7-5; 3-6; 6-2, in the round of 64.

Portlatin advanced to Friday's round of 16 by coming from behind to defeat USC's Angela Kulikov, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

She is set to play the tournament's second seed and 50th-ranked Dailey, Friday afternoon in the round of 16 match up.

Alexis Valenzuela, Camille De Leon, Danielle Pham, and Nuno are each scheduled to compete in singles consolation action tomorrow.

De Leon and Valenzuela are also scheduled to play Northwestern's Erin Larner and Lee Or in the doubles round of 32 on Friday.
