Titans’ Run Ends at ITA Women’s All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALLISADES, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis doubles team of Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela suffered an 8-4 loss to Denver's Julia O'Loughlin and Maureen Slattery in the second round of the qualifying portion at the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships on Wednesday.

For De Leon and Valenzuela, this ends their run at the Championships.

Hosted by the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the 33rd straight year, the tournament kicked off with pre-qualifying matches on Saturday and will finish when the main draw begins on Thursday.

De Leon and Valenzuela were rated 31st in the nation by the 2016 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Women's Division I Preseason Rankings, and were selected to participate in the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships qualifying round. The pair was the sixth-seeded team in the qualifying round.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action this fall on Friday at the Beach Tennis Tournament at Long Beach State.
