FULLERTON, Calif.  – For just the third time this season, the Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team lost the doubles point, putting the Titans in a deficit they could not come back from, suffering a 4-3 loss to Nebraska on Tuesday at Titan Tennis Courts.

With the defeat, Fullerton's (13-3) three-match win streak was snapped while the Huskers improved to 15-2 in 2016.

Fullerton's No. 1 doubles team of Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela got the Titans started with a 6-3 victory over Lisa Andersson and Maggy Lehmicke, but the Huskers evened the score as Nebraska's Mackenna Maddox-Herr and Katerina Matysova defeated Sarah Nuno and Danielle Pham, 6-3. The loss snapped a 10-match win streak for the pair at No. 3 in the order.

The doubles point came down to the No. 2 match as the Husker team of Mary Hanna and Vasanti Shinde prevailed 7-5 over Masako Makiba and Karla Portalatin.

Trailing 1-0, Nuno evened the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Lehmicke at the top of the lineup.

Nebraska took the lead again, 2-1, as Sydney Harlow edged Caroleen Fararji, 6-3, 6-2, at the bottom of the order.

The Titans were able to once again pull even at 2-2 as De Leon scored a win and point over Shinde, 6-3, 7-6 (3-0), at No. 3 in the order.

Nebraska scored its third point to hold a 3-2 advantage as Maddox-Herr defeated Pham, 7-6 (5-0), 6-3, at No. 5 in the lineup.

For the third time, Fullerton was able to even the score as Portalatin's come-from-behind three-set, 2-6, 7-6 (2-0), 6-2, victory over Andersson moved the score to 3-3 at No. 2 in the order.

It was Matysova's, 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (2-0), win over Makiba at No. 4 in the lineup that sealed the match-winning point for the Huskers.

Cal State Fullerton returns to Big West Conference action at 11 a.m., Saturday, hosting CSUN at Titan Tennis Courts.
