With the win, Fullerton (8-1, 2-0 BWC) extended its winning streak to six matches, the longest stretch of victories for the program on record which dates back to 1981. Already off to the best start in program history, the Titans are off to a 2-0 start in league play for the first time since 1995.
For the eighth time this season Fullerton captured the doubles point as junior co-captains Alexis Valenzuela and Camille De Leon defeated Karlay Dulay and Tamila Vaksman, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles to improve to 6-0 on the season.
At No. 3 doubles, freshman Sarah Nuno and sophomore Danielle Pham, now 6-2 on the season, eased past Arabella Valera and Kassie Truong, 6-1.
In singles action, Valenzuela improved to 7-2 at the top of the lineup with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over UCR's Chloe Pham.
At the No. 2 spot, Nuno won her sixth straight match moving past Tracy Van 6-2, 6-3.
De Leon (6-3) picked up a win for the Titans at No. 3 in the lineup, 6-2, 6-3, over Dulay.
Portalatin, playing at the No. 4 spot, defeated Natalie Penner 7-5, 6-1.
The reigning Big West Athlete of the Week, Masako Makiba, won her fourth straight, 6-0, 6-0 over Valera at No. 5 in the order.
At the bottom of the lineup, Pham solidified the sweep with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Truong.
Notes: The Titans six-match winning streak is its longest on record dating back to 1981…Fullerton is 2-0 in Big West Conference matches for the first time since 1995…Fullerton recorded its first sweep of the season.
