FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton's 2014-15 season is less than a month away as the Titans will use a rigorous fall schedule to prep for the spring.

The Titans, who lost three seniors from last year's squad, return to action on Friday, Oct. 3, in Long Beach, Calif., at the Beach Tennis Tournament. The Titans will then head to the ITA Southwest Regionals in San Diego Calif., beginning on Thursday, Oct. 16.

The fall season will end, as the Titans will split their roster at two different competitions, which includes the Jack Kramer Invitational in Palos Verdes, Calif. (Oct. 30-Nov. 2), and the CSUN Matador Invitational (Oct. 31-Nov. 2).

In the spring, Fullerton will play 22 dual matches with 15 taking place at the Titan Tennis Courts on the campus of Cal State Fullerton.

The month of January begins with three straight home matches – Cal State Los Angeles (Jan. 14), Nevada (Jan. 17) and UC San Diego (Jan.21). Following its opening set, Fullerton will make its annual trip south to play San Diego State and San Diego. The Titans end the month hosting defending 2014 Big West Conference champion Long Beach State on Jan. 30. The 49ers ended the 2014 season ranked 40th in the country.

During the month of February, the Titans will not leave Fullerton hosting six home matches with Azusa Pacific (Feb. 4), UC Davis (Feb. 14), CSUN (Feb. 21), Southern Utah (Feb. 22), Eastern Michigan (Feb. 27) and Pacific (Feb. 28).

The month of March begins with a trip to UC Irvine, as the Anteaters ended the year second in the Big West standings with a ranking of No. 70. The Titans will host Loyola Marymount (March 7) and Southern Illinois (March 8) before departing for the team's first trip to Hawaii.

Dating back to 1981 – the first year records are available for women's tennis – the Titans have played the Rainbow Wahine on 11 occasions (4-7), but have never traveled to Honolulu. The Titans will also play a neutral site match with SMU while on the island of Oahu.

Fullerton returns home to host Colorado State (March 18) and Wyoming (March 20).

In April, the Titans will continue their Big West slate, traveling to UC Santa Barbara (April 4) and Cal Poly (April 5), before closing the regular season hosting UC Riverside on April 10.

The Big West championships will be held from Thursday-Sunday, April 23-26, at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

The Titans completed the 2014 season with a record of 8-15 overall, and finished conference play in eighth place with a mark of 1-7, but were spurred during the season by the talented freshman tandem of Alexis Valenzuela and Camille De Leon.

Valenzuela was named to the Big West Singles First Team in April, becoming the first Titan named to the first team dating back to 1989. As a freshman, the West Covina, Calif., native led Fullerton with an overall record of 23-6 as well as a mark of 15-4 in singles dual play. Her 15 singles wins and 14-match winning streak from Feb. 5-April 11 set program highs dating back to 2001.

In singles play, Valenzuela finished Big West competition with a record 5-2, and during the year, she started at the No. 2 spot (3-2) in the lineup before moving to the top (12-2) of the order.

De Leon was one of three players in Fullerton's lineup to record a winning record (13-10), and the La Mirada, Calif., native was also named to the Big West Conference Doubles Second Team with partner Morgan McIntosh.

In singles play, she completed the year with a 21-14 overall record competing mostly at the No. 3 spot (13-8), while suffering two losses at No. 2 in the lineup during dual action.

In doubles play, De Leon and McIntosh partnered during the spring season and the duo finished the year with a record of 10-11 at the top of the lineup and managed a 3-4 mark in Big West play.
