LONG BEACH, Calif. – Freshman Camille De Leon fashioned a successful first tournament in her career as a Titan, claiming the Flight B consolation championship with a win on Sunday at the 2013 Beach Tennis Fall Invitational held at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
De Leon defeated Southern Utah's Jane Marushko, 6-2, 2-6, 10-8, to claim the consolation title in Flight B.
De Leon, a native of La Mirada, Calif., reached the championship after two singles wins on Saturday. She first defeated Cal State Northridge's Mari Taslagyan, 6-0, 6-2, before knocking off Scout Shutter, 7-5, 6-2, also a member of the Matador squad.
Also on Sunday, the team of Morgan McIntosh and Kalika Slevcove defeated Kristen Poei and Scout Shutter of Cal State Northridge, 8-4.
The Titans return to action on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the ITA Regionals in San Diego.
