FULLERTON, Calif. – After dropping a hotly contested double point, the Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team could not recover in a 5-2 loss to No. 71 Loyola Marymount on Wednesday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts.
With the loss, Cal State Fullerton drops to 10-12 in 2013, while the Lions improve to 10-7.
The Fullerton team of Rebekkah Ermac and Megan Sandford defeated Lisa Piller and Adriana Radinovic, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot of the lineup, but the Titans dropped both matches at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, by the score of 9-8.
In singles play, again Ermac and Sandford were the only players in the Titan lineup able to earn victories.
Playing at No. 5 in the lineup, Sandford defeated Radinovic 6-4, 6-0. With the win, Sandford improves to 11-7 in dual match play this season.
Ermac, making just her eighth appearance of the spring, defeated Piller, 6-3, 6-4. With the win, the freshman is now 5-3 in 2013.
The match against the Lions marked the finale in a seven-match homestand that started March 12 vs. George Washington.
The Titans return to play Tuesday at UC Irvine.
