FULLERTON, CA - Buoyed by a run deep into the NCAA Tournament, the Cal State Fullerton softball team finished among the nation's top 25 in the final 2007 USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball coaches polls.

The Titans were ranked No. 16 by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association after not having been ranked entering tournament play. Fullerton also finished ranked No. 20 in the USA Softball poll after receiving only two votes at the end of the regular season.

It marked the fifth time in eight seasons under Head Coach Michelle Gromacki the Titans have finished among the top 25, but the first time since 2003.

Cal State Fullerton finished the year 38-23 overall, becoming the first Big West Conference school to advance into the tournament's super regional round since its inception in 2005. The Titans were also 13-5 in league play to finish in second place.

Fullerton came out of the losers bracket in Columbus, Ohio, to claim its first regional championship since 1995, falling to host Ohio State before staving off elimination for four consecutive games with wins over Canisius, No. 13 Virginia Tech, and the Buckeyes twice to advance.

In the super regional round, the Titans ran into eventual National Champion Arizona, which swept Fullerton in two games to earn a Women's College World Series berth.
