IRVINE, Calif. - It was announced by the conference on Monday that Myka Sutherlin was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week for the twelfth week of the 2023 softball season.
It was the sixth time Sutherlin has earned the award this season, the ninth honor of her career as a Titan, and the ninth honor overall for the Titans this season. Sutherlin has now 4-peated as the Pitcher of the Week during the last four weeks.
Sutherlin started two games this weekend on the road against Cal Poly. Sutherlin pitched two complete games and one shutout over the weekend. Sutherlin pitched 14 innings and allowed two runs (zero earned), nine hits, three walks, and struck out 11. Sutherlin tossed a complete game on Friday and allowed two unearned runs, six hits, three walks, and struck out five. Sutherlin prevailed on Saturday in a complete game shutout after allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out six. Sutherlin has won her last eight starts in a row. During that stretch she has allowed one earned run in 50.2 innings and has a 60-to-13 strikeout to walk ratio.
The Titans are at home for their final conference home series of the 2023 season against the University of Hawai'i. The Titans will play a single game on Friday at 6:00 PM before taking on the Rainbow Wahine for a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2:00 PM. The Titans will honor their senior class after the conclusion of the final game on Saturday for a senior ceremony.
