IRVINE, Calif. - It was announced by the conference on Monday that Myka Sutherlin was named the Big West Field Pitcher of the Week for the tenth week of the 2023 softball season.
It was the fourth time Sutherlin has earned the award this season, the seventh honor of her career as a Titan, and the sixth honor overall for the Titans this season. Sutherlin repeated the feat after being named the Big West Pitcher of the Week last week.
Sutherlin tossed two complete game shutouts this weekend against the Tritons. She pitched 14 scoreless innings and allowed just 5 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 15. In the first game of the series, Sutherlin outdueled last year's conference pitcher of the year in Jada Cecil. Sutherlin allowed three hits and struck out eight. In the final game of the series against UCSD, Sutherlin allowed just two hits, two walks, and struck out seven. Sutherlin has tossed three complete game shutouts in a row and hasn't allowed a run in 23.2 innings and has allowed just seven hits, four walks, and struck out 31 batters within that span.
Sutherlin and the rest of the pitching staff in Haley Rainey and Raci Miranda combined to throw 21 scoreless innings against the UCSD Tritons this weekend.

The Titans host the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos this weekend. The first game is Friday at 6:00 PM with the rest of the series concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2:00 PM.
