LA JOLLA, Calif. - Two seniors came up big for the Titans in a 1-0 win at UC San Diego on Friday night at the Triton Softball Field.
Myka Sutherlin, the reigning Big West pitcher of the week, continued right where she left off and tossed another complete game shutout on Friday. Sutherlin allowed three hits and struck out eight Tritons. Deshea Hill came up with one of the two Titan hits in a big spot in the fifth inning where her pinch hit single provided the only run of the game.
Sutherlin outdueled Jada Cecil who also tossed a complete game and allowed one run on two hits and two walks and one hit batter.
Sutherlin was flawless through ten batters before allowing a single in the fourth inning. The Tritons got the next batter on base on an error, but Sutherlin got a fly out and groundout to strand the UCSD runners in scoring position.

The Titans got their only run in the top of the fifth inning. Peyton Toto led the inning off by working a full count walk. She advanced to second on a wild pitch and eventually third on a passed ball. Deshea Hill pinch hit with two outs in the inning and singled through the left side to score Toto for the only run of the game.

In the bottom of the 7th inning, the Tritons first batter singled to start the inning. However, she was caught trying to steal second for the first out of the inning and Sutherlin was able to get a pop up and a strikeout to finish off the game.

The Titans and Tritons will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The first game is set to start at 1:00 pm.
