IRVINE, Calif. - It was announced by the conference on Monday that Myka Sutherlin was named the Big West Field Pitcher of the Week for the ninth week of the 2023 softball season.
It was the third time Sutherlin has earned the award this season, the sixth honor of her career as a Titan, and the fifth honor overall for the Titans this season.
Myka Sutherlin started all three games for the Titans against the CSUN Matadors this weekend and went 2-1 for the series. In the series finale, Sutherlin was almost perfect in a 5-inning game but instead pitched the 58th no-hitter in school history and the second no-hitter of her career. She walked one batter in the final game and faced one batter over the minimum. Sutherlin pitched 14 innings for the weekend and allowed four runs, on eight hits, three walks, and struck out 20 batters. She tossed her 9th complete game of the season and her 5th shutout of the season as well.
The Titans head out on the road this weekend to San Diego to take on UC San Diego. The first game is Friday at 5:00 PM with the rest of the series concluding with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM.
