IRVINE, Calif. - It was announced by the conference on Monday that Jessi Alcala was named the Big West Field Player of the Week for the seventh week of the 2023 softball season.
It was the first honor for Alcala in her career and the fourth honor overall for the Titans this season.
Alcala slashed .750/.833/1.625 for the weekend against the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners. She went 6-for-8 from the dish with three of the hits being extra base hits. She hit 2 homeruns in the second game against the Roadrunners.

She scored five runs and had six RBIs for the series along with one stolen base. She had at least one hit in all three games. In her 12 total plate appearances, she reached the base 10 times after also walking four times. Alcala was batting .241 heading into the weekend and improved her batting average point by 46 points and is now batting .287 for the season.
The Titans will close out a 17-game homestand with a match against No. 6 Stanford on Wednesday before heading out to UC Riverside this weekend for their first away Big West conference series.
