Titans Swept at Home against Baylor and Boston

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans softball team lost two two midweek games on Wednesday against No. 12/16 Baylor and Boston University.  The Titans fall to 11-11 on the season. 

Cal State Fullerton 2, Baylor 5

In the first game of the day, the Titans outhit the Bears in the game, but the Bears capitalized on three Titan defensive miscues to get the victory over the Titans.  

The Titans outhit Baylor 8-to-4 but there were three costly errors that led to one big inning for Baylor to blow the game open.  

Baylor scored in the first inning on a fluke play.  After a base hit to centerfield, Megan Delgadillo went down with an injury while running the ball in and flipping the ball past the second baseman which allowed a run to score
Baylor added a second run in the third after three walks in the inning loaded the bases and a sac fly made it a 2-0 game. 

The Bears would break the game open with three runs in the fifth inning.  Two of those runs were unearned after the TItans committed two errors in the inning.  
The Titans would get one run back after Antuanett Dean led the inning off forcing an error by the first baseman on a bunt attempt.  She got to third on a sac bunt by Bailey Wallace and scored on a sac fly by Jessi Alcala.  

The Titans attempted a late come back in the seventh inning.  Alexa Neil and Hannah Becerra walked to put two runners on with two outs.  Kika Ramirez singled in a run to make it a 5-2 game. 

However, Munoz would strike out to end the game.

Myka Sutherlin took the loss after allowing five runs (two earned) on three hits, five walks, and 8 strikeouts in five innings of work. 


Cal State Fullerton 0, Boston 10 (5  Innings)

In the second game of the night, the Titans were run ruled against the Boston University Terriers in five inning.  

The Terriers scored 10 runs on 13 hits in the game and while also capitalizing on three Titan errors. 

Allison Boaz picked up the win over the Terriers after allowing just two hits in five innings of work.  Raci Miranda allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.  Hailey Rainey allowed two runs (one earned) in 1.1 innings of work on four hits and two walks.

Ashleigh Dendas pitched a clean final frame for the Titans and struck out three batters.
