Titans Dominate Final Day of Puerto Vallarta College Challenge over Liberty

PUERTO VALLARTA, JALISCO, MIEXICO-The Titans softball team defeated the Liberty Flames 7-0 in their final game of the PV Collegiate Challenge on Sunday.

Haley Rainey drew the start and went 4.1 innings allowing just two hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.  Alexia Silvas tossed her 2.1 innings of the season and allowed just one run, one walk, and three strikeouts. 

Alexa Neil got the start in the leadoff position and set the tone early.  She went 3-for-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.  Daisy Munoz was 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs.

The TItans had two big innings in the game against Liberty where they scored all their runs.  

Evelyn Sablan and Anaiya Mitchell both walked to start the inning.  Alexa Neil singled both runners to give the Titans a 2-0 lead.

Hannah Becerra drew a walk and Alexa Neil got to third on a passed ball.  Daisy Munoz singled through the left side to score one run to make it a 3-0 game.

In the third inning, Sablan led the  inning off with a base hit to center.  She advanced to second on a sac bunt and scored on an Anaiya Mitchell single to left center.

Hannah Becerra singled through the left side and scored Anaiya mItchell to make it a 5-0 game.

Daisy Munoz hit a double to deep right center to score Hannah Becerra and Alea Neil.

After the game was 7-0, the Titans would hand out a host of debuts to a couple different players.  Ashleigh Dendas worked a walk in her first collegiate at-bat and later pitched the final out of the game.  Madison Sanchez played second base and hit into a fielder's choice in her first at-bat.  Cheyanne Marxer got a base hit in her first career appearance as a Titan.  

The Titans finished the tournament with a 3-2 record and beat Ole Miss, #8 Tennessee, and Liberty.  They lost to Kansas and North Dakota State.  Both Megan Delgadillo and Myka Sutherlin were named to the All-PVCC Tournament Team.  

The Titans schedule doesn't get any easier as they head to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic next week in Cathedral City.  The Titans are going to face San Diego State, Florida, Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Oregon State.  All five teams made the NCAA Regionals last season.
