IRVINE, Calif. - Senior pitcher Myka Sutherlin was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week after the first week of the 2023 softball season.
Sutherlin appeared in the first four games out of five games played this weekend, making two starts. She tossed a total of 15 innings and struck out 19 batters. She allowed just two earned runs for the week. In her first start of the season against Utah State, Sutherlin tossed a complete game 2-hit shutout over the Aggies. Sutherlin had a perfect game going into the sixth inning but she also struck out a new career-high of 14 batters.

In her second start of the weekend against San Diego, Sutherlin tossed 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run on three hits, 2 walks, and struck out four.
Sutherlin was named the pitcher of the week three different times last season.
The Titans are back in action this week in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Titans will be taking on Kansas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, North Dakota State, and Liberty.
