Softball Adds Two More Players for the 2023 Season

FULLERTON, Calif. –  Head coach Kelly Ford and the Cal State Fullerton softball program have welcome one new transfer and one NLI signing to the Titans softball program. The group consists of two outfielders.  This is also in addition to the transfer of Hailey Rainey earlier this summer. 

Cheyanne Marxer 
Outfielder | Valencia, Calif. | Valencia High School 

Cheyanne graduated from Valencia High School where she was a four-year letter winner for the softball team. She was named to the all-league first team her freshman and senior year. She was named to the first team all-area her senior year. She was named all-state her senior year. She was a scholar athlete her sophomore and junior year. And she served as the team captain her junior and senior year.

She was born in Valencia, Calif. to Dan Marxer and Tiffany Curcio Charek. She has one sibling, her younger brother Cash. 

"I chose to come to Cal State Fullerton because of the amzing coaching staff, the campus, and the girls on the team are very nice people," said Marxer.  

"We are excited for the late pick up of Cheyanne Marxer. She is a strong lefty hitter with a winning attitude and presence. She will contend for a starting position right off the bat for the Titans," said Kelly Ford.

Mia Weckel
Outfielder | Las Vegas, Nev. | Yavapai College

Mia Weckel was named to the NJCAA All-American Second Team. She was also an NFCA All-American, NFCA First-Team All Region, NJCAA All-Region, and All-Conference honoree this past season at Yavapai College.  Weckel batted .455 with 101 runs scored (2nd in the country), 92 hits, 20 doubles, 19 homeruns, 71 RBIs, 37 walks, and 18 stolen bases.

She was born in New York City, N.Y. to Jason Weckel and Lori Smith and has one sibling, her brother Max. She plans to pursue a degree in kinesiology at Cal State Fullerton. 

"I chose to attend Cal State Fullerton because of the competitive nature of the team and the leadership, said Weckel." "I also liked the experience from the coaching staff of the team."

"Mia has put up some incredible numbers at Yavapai and we are hoping that those transition right into our stat lines. She is an excellent defender and has tons of offensive potential. We're excited to raise the bar with her," said Kelly Ford. 

Cheyanne Marxer and Mia Weckel also join the 2022-23 incoming class that includes  Ashley Adams, Ava Arce, KK Christie, Leanna Garcia, Lilliana Garcia, Alexia Lopez, Trisha McClesky, Maggie Paulovich, and Hailey Rainey.
