HONOLULU, HI. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans softball team were on the wrong side of a 1-0 pitching duel against the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine on Friday evening at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Field.
The Titans moved to 34-17 (18-4 BWC) for the season while the Rainbow Wahine moved to 20-17 (14-8 BWC) on the season.
Raci Miranda once again drew the Friday start as she squared off against her Freshman counterpart on the other side in Brianna Lopez. Miranda went 5.1 innings and allowed just one run on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Lopez went 7 innings and allowed zero runs, three walks, and fanned five.
Both the Titans and the Rainbow Wahine had seven hits a piece. Jessi Alcala had another multi-hit day at the plate by going 2-for-3. Antuanett Dean also had two hits and a stolen base.
The Titans had a hit in all seven innings of the game but couldn't string together the key hit to bring a run in. The Titans left 8 runners stranded on base.
The Rainbow Wahine finally scored the first run of the game in the sixth inning. Izabella Martinez had a single up the middle that scored a runner from third to give them the lead.
The Titans and Rainbow Wahine will finish off the three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday. Game one is set for 5 PM PST and the second game is scheduled for 7:00 PM PST or thirty minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
