Softball Drops Midweek Game at California Baptist University

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans lost a back-and-forth affair with the CBU Lancers 7-5 on Tuesday evening  at John C Funk Stadium

The Titans played their first away midweek game of the season and just their third midweek game of the season.  The Titans move to 25-14 overall on the season.

Megan Delgadillo led the team offensively after going 4-for-4 with 3 runs, 1 RBI, and 1 SB.

The Titans took the lead in the first inning after Megan Delgadillo led the inning off with a base hit.  She came around to score on a Deshea Hill double to left center.

The Lancers tied the game up after there were two outs in the inning.  A walk then a triple to RF led to the Lancers tying the game at 1-1.

The Titans scored two runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead.  Antuanett Dean led the inning off with a bunt single and stole second base.  Megan Delgadillo singled up the middle to score Dean from second base.

Delgadillo came around to score after a fortunate bounce on a ball hit by Deshea Hill off the pitcher's foot.  The ball bounced off the pitcher's foot into foul territory and Delgadillo beat the throw from the first baseman and came around to score from second base.

The Titans added two in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead after Hannah Becerra hit her 8th home run of the season over the CF fence

The Lancers however responded with runs in the 6th inning after a leadoff single and an error put runners on 3rd and 2nd base to start the inning.  A sac fly brought in the first run for the Lancers to make it a 5-4 game.  However, the Lancers were able to rattle off four straight hits to open up a 7-5 lead.

The Titans didn't go down quietly as Deshea Hill and Jessi Alcala both picked up base hits with one out in the 7th inning but that was as far as the Titans would get.

Raci Miranda got the start and allowed 1 run on 4 hits, 1 walks, and 3 strikeouts.  Staci Chambers pitched two innings of relief and allowed 2 runs on two hits, one walk, and 2 K's. Alexia Silvas gave up 4 runs (two earned) on three hits in just .1 innings of work.

The Titans will now turn their focus towards a big series at home against UC San Diego.  The Titans will square off against the Tritons at 7:00 pm on Friday on ESPNU before playing a doubleheader on Saturday.
