IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West Conference announced the first Player of the Week honors of the 2022 softball season on Monday. Sophomore shortstop Peyton Toto was honored after her play in the Easton Invitational last weekend.
Toto slashed .692/.733/1.0777 for the first five games of the season. She had 9 hits in 13 at-bats with two walks. She led the team with 7 RBIs and scored five runs and had two doubles and one home run. She was perfect in the field with 8 putouts and 11 assists. Toto had 3 multi-hit games over the weekend against Dixie State, California, and Colorado State.
Toto is seventh in the county in batting average after last weekend. She is also tied for 14th in the nation in hits with nine.
Toto was named a member of the Big West All-Freshman team and was a Big West Honorable Mention last season.
The Titans are back in action this weekend at the Purple Classic in Phoenix, Arizona hosted by Grand Canyon University. The Titans will take on Long Island University, Idaho State, Grand Canyon, and Santa Clara over the weekend.
