Titans defeat Toreros on Final Day of Easton Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton softball team defeated the University of San Diego Toreros 5-3 on Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Easton Invitational. 

Peyton Toto, Hannah Becerra, and Deshea Hill continued their torrid start to the season. Becerra had two hits, scored two runs, and had two RBIs.  Deshea Hill had a knock and two RBIs.  Peyton Toto had one hit and scored twice.

Hannah Becerra swatted her third home run of the weekend to put the Titans (3-2) on top in the first inning.  

The Toreros (3-2) responded with three runs in the second to momentarily give them the lead. 

The Titans would then answer back with a 3-spot of their own in the third inning.  

The Titans loaded the bases after a Megan Delgadillo double and walks from Toto and Becerra.  Deshea Hill had a knock to right field that scored two runs.   Daisy Munoz would keep the inning alive with a single of her own to give the Titans a 5-3 lead which the Titans would hold for the rest of the game.  

The Toreros put two runners on base in the final inning but Chambers was able to battle through it and strike out the final batter to end the game.

Ellie Zellien drew the start for the Titans and went 2.0 innings allowing five hits on three runs with two strikeouts.  Staci Chambers pitched in relief to get the win and went five scoreless innings, scattering five hits, one walk, and striking out five.  

The Titans head next to Phoenix, Arizona to take part in the Purple Classic hosted by Grand Canyon University from February 18th-20th.  They will take on Long Island University, Idaho State, hosts Grand Canyon University, and Santa Clara.
