FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton softball split Tuesday's doubleheader against the San Diego State Aztecs. The Titans won game one by a score of 7-2 but fell in game two, 5-3. In game two, the Titans led 3-1 and were two outs away from a sweep but the Aztecs hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead and secure the win. Between the two games, freshman third baseman Hannah Becerra went 3-for-5 with four RBI including a home run and a stolen base. Fullerton will put its 13-11 record up against the Toreros of San Diego on Friday in a doubleheader.

GAME ONE
The Titans were dialed in at the dish as the team recorded 11 hits, the fourth straight game they have recorded 10+ hits. It is also the second time this season the team has hit three homers in a single game.

Senior catcher Julia Valenzuela got things started for the Titans with a solo shot in the second inning. It marked her third homer of the season and third in the last four games. She was 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.

Freshman third baseman Hannah Becerra homered in the fifth inning, a two-run shot that marked her fourth homer of the season. That same inning, after Siofele and Valenzuela reached, sophomore Daisy Munoz hit her third home run of the season to push the Titans lead to 7-1.

SDSU scored an unearned run in the fifth and then hit a solo shot in the sixth to account for its two runs.

Senior pitcher Sophie Frost (5-3) earned the win with her fifth complete game of the season. She had a final line of 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB and 7 strikeouts.

GAME ONE
Freshman pitcher Savannah Serrata was working on the best outing of her career heading into the final inning. She had tied her career-high in strikeouts with four and had already thrown a career-best 6.0 innings. The top of the seventh started with a fielding error and after a groundout the runner advanced to second. A single and advancement on the throw had runners on first and second. A walk loaded the bases and then the grand slam put the Aztecs on top. Dani Martinez came on in relief to get the final two outs of the inning.

The Titans had a strike out, line out and strike out in the bottom of the seventh.

SDSU struck first on an odd play in the third inning. After a leadoff triple, the Aztecs laid down a sacrifice bunt but there was a collision at first base on the play and the ball was knocked free, allowing the baserunner at third base to score.

Senior right fielder Kelsie Whitmore tied the game in the bottom of the third with her third home run of the season. Later in the inning, Becerra put the Titans up 3-1 with a two-RBI single.
