Softball Drops Two to Fresno State

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton softball lost both games to Fresno State on Friday, the first day of the Judi Garman Classic. Fresno State won game one by a score of 4-3 and game two, 9-1 (six innings). Taylor Dockins surprised the team by attending the game and she threw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of the doubleheader.

GAME ONE
The Bulldogs of Fresno State took the lead in the first inning off an unearned run. The Titans then tied the game up in the bottom half of the first thanks to a sac fly by Julia Valenzuela to drive in Megan Delgadillo.

Senior Irie Siofele homered to left field in the third inning to extend the Titans lead to 2-1. It was Siofele's second home run of the season and 12th of her career. 

Delgadillo then drove in Remington Ross via sac fly in the fourth inning to push the lead to 3-1.

Fresno State tied the game in the sixth off a two-RBI single. The Bulldogs then took the lead in the top of the seventh on a fielder's choice to secure the win.

Sophie Frost (3-3) threw her third straight complete game as a starter. She finished with a line of 7.0 innings pitched, five hits, four runs (three earned), tied a career-high 10 strikeouts and walked 10 batters.

Offensively, the Titans had eight hits but left six runners on base.

GAME TWO
Fresno State scored two in the first inning, both via base on balls. In the third inning, they extended the lead off an RBI triple and an RBI hit by pitch. The Bulldogs tacked on four unearned runs in the fifth to push the lead to 9-0.

The Titans pulled one back in the bottom of the six as Ellie Zellien's RBI scored Remington Ross.
