Frost, Valenzuela Claim Big West Weekly Honors

IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West Conference announced Player of the Week honors on Monday. Two Titans were honored after their play over six games last week, senior catcher Julia Valenzuela and senior pitcher Sophie Frost.

FIELD PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JULIA VALENZUELA, CAL STATE FULLERTON
Senior • C • La Mirada, Calif. • Bishop Amat HS 

• Valenzuela had a big week at the dish for the Titans, earning Big West Player of the Week honors for the second time this young season.

• Valenzuela batted .529 for the week, collecting three doubles among her nine base hits. She had three multi-hit games and scored five runs over the six-game week, putting up 12 total bases. She went 3-for-3 at the plate against CBU and scored three runs, a career-high for runs scored in a single game.

• Valenzuela also showed off more of the leather as she was perfect in 27 chances and threw out a runner attempting to steal. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
SOPHIE FROST, CAL STATE FULLERTON
Senior • RHP • Mill Creek, Wash. • Jackson HS 

• Frost was dominant in the circle over her two starts, resulting in Big West Pitcher of the Week honors.

• Frost started the week with a complete game victory against San Diego, allowing four hits, one earned run, walking three and striking out nine.

• Her second start was more of the same against Boise State, a complete game three-hitter with four strikeouts. It was the first complete-game shutout for the Titans since Frost threw one against No. 18 Minnesota on March 6, 2020.

• For the week Frost compiled an 0.50 ERA in her 14 innings of work, throwing 132 of her total 210 pitches for strikes.

The Titans are back in action on Wednesday at No. 1 UCLA before hosting the Judi Garman Classic this weekend.
