FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton softball was swept by the No. 1 UCLA Bruins (3-0) on Saturday at Anderson Family Field. The Titans (4-6) hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first inning in game one but that was it for the offense as UCLA came back to win 6-2. In game two, the Titans had a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh and had the Bruins down to their final strike on two occassions. But, the defending NCAA Champions had a big two-out rally to ultimately win 10-4.

GAME ONE
Freshman Hannah Becerra and sophomore Daisy Munoz hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first inning to give the Titans a 2-0 lead. The Titans recorded two hits in the fourth and one in the sixth but that was it for the offense. It was the first time the Titans had hit back-to-back homers since Feb. 6, 2020 when Kelsie Whitmore and Zoe Richard did it against Middle Tennessee State.

Freshman Savannah Serrata started in the circle for the Titans and went 3.0 innings, allowing two earned runs. Freshman Staci Chambers relieved her and was responsible for the loss as she gave up one run in 1.2 innings. UCLA scored in each of the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

GAME TWO
UCLA opened up with two runs in the first and a run in the second take a quick 3-0 lead. But the Titans responded with a Kelsie Whitmore grand slam in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead. Whitmore's grand slam was the first since Janelle Rodriguez on May 10, 2019.

Senior pitcher Sophie Frost picked up a crucial strikeout in the sixth inning with the bases loaded to preserve the 4-3 lead for the Titans. The situation happened again in the seventh but she couldn't get out of the jam the second time. With two outs, UCLA rattled off seven runs including a two-RBI double, an RBI single, an RBI single and a three-run homer.

The Titans return to action on Monday at San Diego for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. PT.
