IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West Conference announced the first Player of the Week honors of the 2021 softball season. Two Titans were honored after their play in the Easton Invitational last weekend, senior catcher Julia Valenzuela and freshman outfielder Bailey Wallace.

• Cal State Fullerton senior Julia Valenzuela paced the Titans at the plate in the season-opening weekend, earning Field Player of the Week honors.

• Starting three of four games behind the plate, Valenzuela hit .375, which included a pair of hits in the season-opening loss to Oregon State and her third career triple against Utah State.

• She also recorded three RBI, two coming in the first game against the Beavers and the third was the game-winning RBI triple against the Aggies on Friday.

• Valenzuela also showed off her defense, cleanly handling all 19 total chances and throwing out the lone runner attempting to steal.

• Cal State Fullerton outfielder Bailey Wallace had an impressive start to her collegiate career, resulting in Freshman of the Week accolades.

• The first-year player had two hits in three of her four games, resulting in a .429 batting average for the weekend.

• She also scored a run in three games and posted a .500 on-base percentage.
