Titans Head to Rival Long Beach; Aired on ESPN Networks

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (25-14, 5-1 BWC) will head to rival Long Beach State (16-19, 3-3 BWC) for their third weekend of conference play. The Titans and 49ers will start the series with a doubleheader on Saturday with game times of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and then close the series out on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday's doubleheader will be aired on ESPN3 while Sunday's finale will be on ESPNU.

The Titans are coming off their ninth straight conference series win taking two of three against CSUN. The Titans fell 2-5 in game one, but bounced back to take both games of the doubleheader, 7-3 and 9-1, to close out the series.

The Fullerton offense continues to be led by Alexa Neil and Ari Williams at the top of the lineup. Neil's .368 average, 42 hits, and .433 on-base percentage all lead the team while Williams' ranks top three in almost every offensive category while tied for the team lead with five home runs and 29 RBI. The Titan pitching staff ranks second in the conference with a 2.65 ERA and .257 opponent batting average. All three main starters (Sophie Frost, Dani Martinez, and Taylor Dockins) all rank in the top 10 in ERA. Martinez leads the way with a 2.29 mark while opponents are hitting just .188 against her. Frost is right behind her with a 2.39 ERA in a team-leading 99.2 innings.

Fullerton leads the all-time series against Long Beach State with 79 wins to 62 losses and took the series against the 49ers last year. The Titans last series loss to LBSU came in 2016 at Anderson Family Field.

Looking at the Long Beach roster this season, the 49er offense leads the conference with a .293 average to go along with their Big West leading 182 runs scored, 285 hits, and 172 RBI. Jamie Wren leads the squad with a .368 average, six home runs, and 36 RBI while slugging .624 at the plate. In the circle, Long Beach has a 3.42 team ERA led by Kellie White's 3.29 mark. Her and Ashley Coleman have the bulk of the innings with 89.1 and 90 innings respectively.

Fullerton looks to stay atop the Big West standings currently in a tie for first with Hawaii while Long Beach State tries to climb the ranks sitting in fifth place.
