CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (9-4) split their doubleheader falling 1-0 to No. 5 Washington (11-1) and defeating Bethune Cookman (4-10) by the score of 4-0.

Dani Martinez dueled it out with the Washington pitcher throwing six shutout innings as the game went into the final frame scoreless. The freshman righty finished with 6.1 innings allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out four. Sophie Frost entered the game to record the final two outs of the ballgame getting the only batter she faced to hit into a double play.

Offensively, Alexa Neil was the only Titan to record a hit going 1-3 extending her on-base streak to nine straight games. As a team, Fullerton only had three batters reach base and struck out a total of 14 times.

The lone run of the game came in the top of the seventh as Nawai Kaupe crushed a solo home run down the left field line in the top of the seventh to give the Huskies the lead.

The Titans would switch fields for game two against Bethune-Cookman and once again, it was all about the Titan pitching.

Sophie Frost got the start in the circle and threw her first complete game shutout of the season only allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three.

The offense was slow to get started against the Wildcats, but got on the board in the fifth thanks to a Deshea Hill RBI double. Janelle Rodriguez followed up the double with a sacrifice fly for the game's second run.

That would be more than enough run support for Frost, but the Titans tacked on two more in the top of the seventh for good measure as Hill collected another RBI on a single to right field. Evelyn Sablan would come up a few batters later and send a shot back up the middle for an RBI knock of her own.

Hill and Evelyn Sablan recorded two-hit performances going 2-4 each. Neil went 1-4 with a pair of runs scored extending her on-base streak into double-figures. Ari Williams had a 1-3 outing with two runs scored and a stolen base. Sam Kennedy was the only other Titan with a hit going 1-2 with a walk.

For the day, the Titan pitching staff combined for 14 innings, allowing just one run on 10 hits.

Fullerton is back for two more games on Sunday beginning with No. 4 Oklahoma at 9:00 a.m.
