FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans played their final two fall games on Saturday and split them, picking up an 8-1 win over Fullerton College and falling 4-2 to UCLA.
It was a split squad day for Fullerton as half the team played UCLA on field one while the other half played FJC on field two.
On field one, it was Trish Parks, Julia Valenzuela, Zoe Richard, Alexa Neil, Deshea Hill, Sam Kennedy, Irie Siofele, Ari Williams, Kelsie Whitmore, Ari Burns, and Dani Martinez taking on the Bruins. The Bruins struck first plating one run in the first and three in the second while shutting the Titans out through five. CSF brought two across in the bottom of the sixth to break the shutout, but that would be the only damage done on the day. Parks and Martinez were the two pitchers against UCLA and combined for five shutoutout innings after Parks allowed four in the first two frames.
The field two squad consisted of Sophie Frost, Jody Cova, Janelle Rodriguez, Gretchen Hom, Daisy Munoz, Jamie Sugimoto, Kiana Parrish, Paola Villegas, Jayda Su'e, Evelyn Sablan, Lauren Amezcua, Jasmyn Vigilante, and Mia Marinakis. The Titans put up three runs in the bottom of the first and five more in the fifth. Frost and Rodriguez handled the pitching against FJC leading the Titans to the 8-1 victory.
Overall, the Titans finish their fall season with a record of 6-2.
Cal State Fullerton opens their 2019 season with the Titan Classic Feb. 7-10 at Anderson Family Field beginning with Idaho State on Thursday, the 7th, at 6:00 p.m.
