NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (21-19, 6-0 BWC) faced off against CSUN (16-26, 1-5 BWC) in the series finale on Sunday and came out with their second consecutive sweep as they have started conference play 6-0.

Once again, Sophie Frost got the start in the circle and once again she dealt. Recording her 12th complete game (and 11th consecutively), the right-hander threw six phenomenal innings of softball before working through some seventh inning struggles. Overall, she allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out a pair.

The offense only collected five hits in the contest with two of them going to Ari Williams. The center fielder finished the game 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Deshea Hill, Zoe Richard, and Julia Valenzuela were the only other Titans to collect a hit in the ballgame.

Fullerton wasted no time getting their offense going plating a run in the top of the first as Williams came in to score on a fielding error. They followed that up with a four-spot in the top half of the second.

The inning started as Shianne Brannan got hit by a pitch to lead it off and Valenzuela came up and launched one into left-center for an RBI double. After Brooke Clemetson walked and swiped her 27th bag of the year, tying the single-season record, Williams came through with a single into left field scoring both runners. Hill stepped in next and once again single to the left side of the infield and Williams came in to score.

That would be the end of the Titan scoring for the contest, but Frost was dealing so that was plenty. In the circle, she threw five shutout innings to open up the contest before allowing an unearned run in the sixth.

Heading into the final frame, Fullerton was holding on to a comfortable four-run lead but CSUN was not ready to give up. After a single and a double put a pair of runners in scoring position, a wild pitch would bring in the Matadors' second run of the game. A sac fly would clear the bases and plate the third run. A two-out single brought the tying run to the plate, but a groundout would end the ballgame.

The 5-3 win gives the Titans' their second straight series sweep, a six game winning streak, and a 6-0 start to conference play which has them tied for first with Long Beach State.

Speaking of the 49ers, they are the next opponent for Fullerton as they come to Anderson Family Field for a game on Friday and a double-header on Saturday. For one of these teams, the undefeated conference start will come to an end.
