NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (20-19, 5-0 BWC) swept both games against CSUN to guarantee a series win against CSUN (16-25, 1-4 BWC) on Saturday in week two of conference play.

Sophie Frost got the start in the circle for the Titans in game one and as she has done in the previous 10 starts, she went the distance for complete game number 11. In her seven innings of work, she only allowed one run on just four hits while striking out two.

The Titan offense was carried by Deshea Hill in the first ballgame as she made her first start since March 17 against Nebraska. The freshman went 2-3 with a double and three RBI. Bryanna Ybarra and Julia Valenzuela also posted multi-hit games as Ybarra went 2-3 with an RBI while Valenzuela went 2-3 with a pair of singles.

Sammie Vandiver and Ari Williams were the only other Titans with hits in game one. Vandiver went 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored, while Williams went 1-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

After a scoreless first inning, the Matadors would strike for the first run of the ballgame courtesy of an RBI groundout in the bottom of the second. However, Fullerton responded immediately plating two in the top of the third thanks to a two-RBI ground-rule double from Hill.

Both teams held scoreless in the fourth before the Titans plated two more in the fifth. After a Vandiver walk and Williams reached on a sac bunt with an error on the play, Hill struck again flying out to center to bring in Vandiver from third. Ybarra followed that up with a perfect squeeze bunt as Williams slid in ahead of the tag for the second run.

That made it 4-1 which was more than enough for Frost as she was dealing yet again. After allowing the run, she finished the game with five shutout innings en route to her eighth win of the season.

Trish Parks got the start in game number two, and despite a rough start with her command went the distance for the complete game. In her seven innings of work, she allowed just one run on seven hits while striking out a pair.

The Fullerton offense blew up early in game two as seven of the starting nine recorded hits in the ballgame. Zoe Richard led the way going 3-4 with a home run and three RBI. Brooke Clemetson had a great bounce back game after going 0-4 in game one, as she went 2-4 with a walk and a run scored.

Ari Williams and Deshea Hill also recorded two hits a piece. Williams went 2-3 with a pair of runs scored and Hill went 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Sammie Vandiver (1-4, RBI) and Shianne Brannan (1-4, a run and two RBI) were the other two Titans to record knocks.

Fullerton was not messing around in game two as the plated four runs straight out of the gate in the top of the first. With the bases loaded, Brannan came through with a two-out, two-RBI double down the left field line for the first pair of runs. Richard followed that up with a single back up the middle to plate two more.

Four runs was plenty of support for Parks who dominated the Matadors throwing six straight shutout innings before allowing a run in the seventh. She had to escape a couple of jams, but the defense behind her put in work and kept CSUN off the board.

Fullerton plated a run in the second on an RBI single from Vandiver, a run in the fourth on an RBI single from Hill, and a run in the sixth on a fielder's choice. Just for good measure, Richard launched her third home run of the season in the top of the seventh to make it an 8-0 game.

The Matadors got a run of their own in the bottom half of the seventh, but that obviously would not be enough as Fullerton completed the double-header sweep with an 8-1 win.

The Titans will face CSUN again tomorrow for the series finale at Matador Diamond. First pitch will be at 1:00 p.m.
