FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (11-13) suffered a 4-2 loss against Fairfield (6-8) and a 5-0 loss to Columbia (5-9).

The offense just wasn't there today for the Titans as they came up with 10 total hits in the two games, only one of which came against Columbia. The pitching did their job to keep the team in the ballgame, but nobody could come up with a timely hit when it was needed.

The night started with Sophie Frost throwing against the Lady Stags. She suffered her first loss in her last four starts despite going the distance and matching her career-high with eight strikeouts. Giving up a pair of runs in the first inning to open up the contest and two more in the third, she finished with four runs allowed (only one of which was earned) while walking six.

The teams played through some pretty heavy rain through the first inning and a half before entering a rain delay in the bottom of the second. The Titans plated a run before the delay and 57 minutes later, they would plate their second and final run of the night.

Fairfield would respond with two more runs in the third and that would be enough for them to hold on to the lead and give them the victory.

The Titans needed to have a quick bounce back as they faced Columbia right after the loss to Fairfield. Unfortunately, things only got worse.

Taylor Dockins had the start in the circle for this one and despite giving up a first inning run, she pitched well enough to keep her team in the game. She would go 6.2 innings, getting pulled after back-to-back doubles in the top of the seventh. Overall, she gave up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits and a walk while striking out one.

A single from Zoe Richard in the fourth was the only knock of the contest for Fullerton. They actually only got four runners on base as Brooke Clemetson walked twice and Sammie Vandiver walked once.

The Titans will put this night behind them and look forward to five games this weekend as they host the Easton Invitational.
