FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (11-11) split Sunday's contests with a 4-3, eight inning walkoff win over San Diego State (8-17), but suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of No. 16/19 Ohio State (14-2).

Sophie Frost got the start in the circle for game one of the day against and as she has did previous three starts, she pitched very well. A rocky start for the sophomore, giving up three runs in the first two frames, but she bounced back in a big way. Going the full eight innings of play, the right-hander finished the game with six scoreless innings as she went the distance for yet another complete game.

Offensively, the Fullerton bats stayed hot collecting 10 hits yet again. Deshea Hill led the way going 3-4 giving her a sixth consecutive game with multiple hits. Zoe Richard, Emily Randall, and Shianne Brannan also collected multiple hits with two a piece.

Each team plated their first runs in the first frame as the Aztecs got a run on a fielder's choice sac bunt in the top half. The Titans got their run in a more normal fashion as an RBI single from Richard would plate Hill from second.

In the second, San Diego State reclaimed the lead plating a pair of run courtesy of a double off the bat of Katie Byrd. That would be the end of the Aztec scoring for the day though as Sophie Frost put it in cruise control ending the game with six consecutive scoreless innings.

The Titan offense got back going in the third thanks to Hill and Richard yet again. Hill connected for a single and Richard would double in pinch runner Kelsie Whitmore. Fullerton would plate the tying run in the fifth after singles from Sammie Vandiver and Hill followed by a sac fly from Richard.

There would be free softball at Anderson Family Field in this one as neither team could plate a run in the final innings. The Titans ended it in the eighth after the Aztecs walked the bases loaded and Ybarra would beat the throw home on a grounder to second base as Fullerton walked it off in eight innings to get above .500 for the first time since opening weekend.

Game two was a continuation of the game against Ohio State that was started yesterday. The Titans and Buckeyes picked the game up in the bottom of the first and Fullerton wasted no time as they would plate a run before an out was record. Unfortunately, that's all they would get as they lost 3-1.

Taylor Dockins got the start for Fullerton against No. 16/19 Ohio State and she pitched well going the complete game while only surrendering three runs on six hits while striking out two. Unfortunately, he Titan offense finally hit a cold spell as outside of the first inning, they only collected two hits throughout the rest of the game.

Brooke Clemetson singled and stole second yesterday, so she opened up the game on second base today and would come around to score on an RBI single from Hill.

Dockins started out with back-to-back scoreless frames before the Buckeyes offense got to her. After a fielding error by Brannan, an RBI double followed by a sac fly would give Ohio State the lead and they would tack on another in the fifth courtesy of a Lilli Piper solo home run.

The Titans got a baserunner on virtually every inning, but just didn't have the timely hitting in this one to put some runs on the board.

Fullerton will look to bounce back in a midweek double-header as they host Fairfield at 4:00 pm and Columbia at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.
