IRVINE, Calif.- Cal State Fullerton senior Kelsey Kessler (Blue Springs, Mo./Arizona State) collected the win in all three games against Hawai'i to garner Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week recognition.
The right-hander did not allow a run in 14.1 innings pitched over the three appearances as the Titans outscored the Rainbow Wahine, 10-3, for the series.
Kessler tossed a pair of complete game six-hit shutouts – her fifth and sixth of the season – in games one and three of the series. She struck out nine with no walks in a 5-0 triumph in game one. Kessler returned for the final game and fanned six while walking two.
In between, Kessler got the win after throwing just one-third of an inning, getting the final out in the UH seventh to keep the score 3-2 in favor of the Rainbow Wahine, and opening the door for the Titans to earn a walk-off 4-3 win in the bottom half.
Others nominated: Lindsey Chalmers (Cal Poly); Daphne Pofek (CSUN); Veronika Gulvin (UC Santa Barbara)
