WESTWOOD, Calif. - The Titans couldn't keep up with No. 13 UCLA and fell in the last midweek game 7-3 at Easton Field Tuesday evening.
Pitcher Trish Parks (3-5) took the loss with three earned runs on six hits in two innings of play. UCLA's Selina Ta'amilo (8-0) received the win with two runs, both earned, on six hits in three innings for the Bruins.
Samantha Vandiver stood out offensively as she went three for four at-bat. Delynn Rippy, Arianna Burns, and Zoe Richard all tallied RBIs for Fullerton's offense. Rippy's RBI was first from the Titan lineup as she doubled to bring in Whitmore.
The Bruins started the action in the bottom of first inning with a single to third base. UCLA then hit a RBI single to start the lead 1-0. The Bruins came back out again in the third inning with a home run and another RBI single to keep the lead 3-0.
In the top of the fourth, Kylie Padilla got her second hit of the game to center field for a single. Kelsie Whitmore came in as the pinch runner and then Deylnn Rippy smashed the ball for an RBI double to put the Titans on the board.
The Bruins attacked again in the fourth inning with another RBI single followed by another home run to bat in two more runners.
Williams singled in the top of the seventh and stole second base. Zoe Richard was up next at-bat and got a base hit and then advanced to second on a throwing error from the Bruin center fielder, while also bringing in Williams for the RBI. Shianne Brannan got on base with a walk and then Arianna Burns had a base hit for the RBI to finish the game with 7-3 loss.
The Titans gear up for Big West Conference action this weekend with hosting Hawai'i on Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m. at the Anderson Family Field.
