FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans conclude the Long Beach State/Cal State Fullerton tournament with two wins against Longwood (2-1) and Boston College (5-1). With the win, the Titans move to 3-2 in the tournament and 12-13 overall.
Game One (vs. Longwood)
Action took place in the second inning when Karleigh Donovan from Longwood doubled to get on base. The next batter then singled to bring in Donovan for the Lancer's only run against the Titans.
In the fifth inning, Zoe Richard entered the game as a pinch hitter with Brooke Clemetson and Shianne Brannan on base. Richard then doubled to bring in two runs for the 2-1 win for Cal State Fullerton.
Kelsey Kessler took the win for the Titans with zero runs, and zero hits and one strikeout on two innings. Elizabeth McCarthy took the loss for Longwood with six hits, two runs, both earned on five innings.
Game Two (vs. Boston)
In the first three innings of play, both Boston and Cal State Fullerton remained scoreless. In the bottom of the fourth inning, catcher Kylie Padilla batted in Emily Randall and Shianne Brannan to start the lead for the Titans.
Delynn Rippy got on base in the bottom of the fifth inning with a single and was batted in from Mikaela Francis's double. Megan Francis pinch ran for Francis and was batted in from Shianne Brannan's single.
Boston responded back with a homerun in the sixth inning, but then Ariana Williams scored one more run for the Titans to seal the win 5-1.
Pitcher Kelsey Kessler (8-4) got the win again for Cal State Fullerton as she held the Terriers to one run on three hits, five strikeouts, and in six innings of work. For the Terriers, Lizzie Annerino took the loss as she allowed three runs, all earned, on eight hits over five innings.
The Titans will play again on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at San Diego.
