FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (27-16, 5-3) junior Missy Taukeiaho blasted two round-trippers on the day including a game-winner in the 12th inning of a 3-2 softball marathon in game one, while the offense erupted for a 12-0 rout in the opener at UC Riverside (31-12, 3-5) at Amy S. Harrison Field on Saturday.

Cal State Fullerton will wrap up the conference series with the Highlanders tomorrow at 12 p.m. at Amy S. Harrison Field in Riverside, Calif.

GAME ONE: Cal State Fullerton 12, UC Riverside 0

Cal State Fullerton banged out 17 hits behind five multi-hit performances, while Christina Washington (13-4) tallied six shutout innings to rout UC Riverside in the opening game of the series, 12-0.

Fullerton's 1-4 batters of Sammie Vandiver (2-for-4), Missy Taukeiaho (2-for-4), Courtney Rodriguez (2-for-5) and Sarah Moore (4-for-4) combined for a 10-for-17 effort and scored half of the Titans' 12 runs.

Washington scattered seven hits and struck out three to notch her team-high 13th victory of the season. Cerissa Rivera tossed the final inning and keep the Highlanders off the board to preserve the shutout.    

The Titans' offense was active early as Samantha Galarza provided a two-run single down the right field line to give CSF a 2-0 lead. In the third, Rodriguez singled with one-out, quickly stole second and eventually scooted home on a wild pitch. Taukeiaho continued the momentum with a two-run single in the fourth, later followed by a two-run homer in the sixth to make it 7-0.

The rout was on in the seventh after the Titans posted a five-run barrage behind a two-run round-tripper from Melissa Sechrest, RBI single by Kylie Padilla, and two-run single from Rodriguez. Padilla (2-for-4) chalked up the fifth multi-hit effort for Fullerton.

UCR starter Chelsea Ponce (23-7) was chased after just three innings after yielding three runs on four hits. Tayler Misfeldt was ineffective as well after surrendering another six runs on eight hits. Kaylynn Pierce and Alyssa Razo combined to toss the final inning, but another three Fullerton runs on five hits capped off an impressive offensive show for the Titans.   

GAME TWO (12 Innings): Cal State Fullerton 3, UC Riverside 2

Cal State Fullerton junior Missy Taukeiaho continued the big day at the plate with a go-ahead solo homer in the 12th inning to notch a 3-2 victory over UC Riverside to clinch the sweep.

Left-handed sophomore Christina Washington (14-4) notched her second win of the day after tossing the final five innings of shutout relief, limiting the Highlanders to just three hits. Fullerton starter Jasmine Antunez turned in a strong outing in her own right, chalking up the first seven innings of work, yielding two runs on five hits.

Similar to the first game of the day, the Titans offense was rolling early as the inning began with a two-out infield single from Courtney Rodriguez. Mizzou transfer Sarah Moore singled down the right field line to continue the rally. The lone senior on the squad, Eliza Crawford, roped a two-run double to put the Titans in front 2-0.

UCR responded in the seventh with back-to-back RBI singles from Jenna Curtan and Karina Romero to send the game into extras.

Three innings followed of scoreless softball until Taukeiaho went opposite field with her team-high 11th long ball of the season. Taukeiaho finished the nightcap with a 2-for-4 effort, while Rodriguez (3-for-6) and Moore (2-for-3) added multi-hit games, respectively.

Highlanders' starter Chelsea Ponce turned in 11 and 1/3 innings of work, scattering nine hits and three runs while fanning nine.
