FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton invites you to the Titan Softball Lead Off Dinner, scheduled for 6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at the Spring Field Banquet Center.
The third annual Lead Off Dinner event is a great chance for fans to meet the 2015 Titans softball team members and get to know head coach Kelly Ford and her staff. The program features some terrific silent auction items, while all proceeds from the event will directly benefit the softball program.
This year the program will feature two special guest speakers, one of which will be former Titan Hall of Fame head softball coach Judi Garman who was the nation's winningest collegiate coach when she retired after the 1999 season with a 913-376-4 (.708) record in 20 seasons.
The Titans advanced to post-season play in each of their first 17 seasons and made eight appearances in the national finals, winning the Women's College World Series and NCAA championship in 1986. In 1993, Garman was inducted into the National Softball Coaches Hall of Fame while she continues to be the namesake for one of the most prestigious mid-season collegiate tournaments across the nation, the Judi Garman Classic held at Anderson Family Field in Fullerton, Calif.
The final guest speaker will be Jenny Topping, a four-time first-team All-American, three-time Big West Conference Player of the Year at Cal State Fullerton from 2001-03, and also a member of the 2004 Gold Medal United States Olympic Softball Team that was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame's Class of 2012. Topping's name inks the Fullerton record books in several categories, four of which involve career records in average (.443), slugging percentage (.771), and on-base percentage (.573), while drawing a whopping 137 walks.
