FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team earned two come from behind victories against Pacific at Anderson Family Field on Friday night. Melissa Sechrest's go-ahead RBI single in the fifth inning of game one and Ariel Tsuchiyama's game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning in game two helped the Titans defeat the Tigers 5-3 and 3-2.

Fullerton improves to 25-27 on the season and 10-10 in the Big West, while Pacific falls to 28-23 and 12-8 in conference play. The Titans have won nine of their last 11 games.

Game One: Cal State Fullerton 5, Pacific 3

Entering today's matchup versus Pacific, the Cal State Fullerton softball team had a record of 4-21 when trailing after four innings. However, the Titans produced four clutch hits in a four-run bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Pacific 5-3 in game one.

Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning Fullerton got a leadoff single from Ariel Tsuchiyama and a two-out walk from Eliza Crawford to give the Titans a chance to tie up the game. With two outs redshirt junior Gabby Aragon stepped to the plate and delivered a two-run double to the right center wall scoring both Tsuchiyama and Crawford to even the game at three.

However, the game wouldnt be tied up much longer as the next batter Melissa Sechrest drove a 3-2 pitch down the right field line scoring Aragon from second and giving the Titans a 4-3 advantage. Carissa Turang added the fourth run of the inning after a triple to left center scored pinch runner Cami Jacob from first.

Cal State Fullerton got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI single from Eliza Crawford. Pacific scored all three of their runs in the top half of the fifth inning off a Sara Anderson RBI triple, a bases-loaded walk, and a Amy Moore RBI single up the middle.

Cal State Fullerton starter Jasmine Antunez tossed 4 1/3 innings giving up three runs off four hits, while issuing two walks and striking out one. Desiree Ybarra (7-12) records the win after throwing 2 2/3 innings in relief. The Riverside, Calif., native gave up three hits and issued three walks. 

UOP's Nikki Armagost (12-6) threw 4 2/3 innings giving up five runs off eight hits, while allowing three walks and striking out one. Carly Mortensen relieved Armagost in the fifth inning and tossed the final 1 1/3 innings allowing no runs, while striking out one.

Ybarra was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Sechrest was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Game Two: Cal State Fullerton 3, Pacific 2

After finding a way to comeback in game one, the Cal State Fullerton softball team found a way to do it again in game two as the Titans scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to knock off Pacific 3-2 at Anderson Family Field on Friday night.

This time trailing 2-1 late in the game, Ariel Tsuchiyama delivered a two-out two-run single to center scoring Tiffany Sheffler and Ashley Carter. The Titans got on the board first in the second inning after Gabby Aragon belted a solo home run to left field. Pacific answered back in the top of the third inning with an RBI single from Megan Hom, which scored Alex Steinmehl. Hom put the Tigers up 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning after an RBI double to center scored Alexi Johnson.

Freshman Monique Wesley started game two throwing 4 1/3 innings allowing two runs off six hits, while issuing one walk. Wesley was relieved by Desiree Ybarra (8-12) who tossed a 1 2/3 innings. Ybarra issued only two walks in the eight batters she faced. Jasmine Antunez threw the final inning allowing only a walk to record her second save of the season.

UOP's Dani Bonnet tossed a complete game giving up three runs, one earned, off eight hits, while issuing three walks. Hom was 2-for-4 with two RBI's for the Tigers and Tiffany Sheffler was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Titans.

The Titans and Tigers will wrap up the three-game series tomorrow at noon at Anderson Family Field. Saturday's contest will be the final time Pacific and Fullerton will match up against each other as Big West Conference foes as Pacific will move onto the West Coast Conference starting next season.
