FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton redshirt sophomore Leslie Munoz and senior Lauryn Welch each found the back of the net for the Titans, but it wasn't enough to hold off host Texas as the Longhorns upended Fullerton, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon in Austin, Tex.

The loss ended the Titans' two-match winning streak as they fell to 4-2-1 overall on the year. Texas improved to 6-2 overall on the season.

Fullerton, which was outshot by a 25-7 margin two days earlier in its upset of No. 6 Texas A&M, struggled to find space yet again on Sunday as the Longhorns outshot the Titans, 22-6, in the victory.

Cal State Fullerton, which was outshot only twice last season, has now been outshot in each of its last six matches.

Both offenses were on fire in the first half as the two teams combined for all five goals in the first 45 minutes.

Munoz got things started for the Titans in the sixth minute of the match, taking a feed from teammate Nicole Scheid and blasting it in for her first goal of the year, and the first of her career, and a 1-0 advantage.

However, the Longhorns answered back in a big way, scoring three unanswered goals in the next 26 minutes.

Amy Burlingham knotted the score at 1-1 in the 11th minute, taking a pass from Kasey Moore for her second goal of the year.

Four minutes later Kelsey Carpenter netted her seventh goal of the season, deflecting her shot off the hands of Titan goalkeeper Karen Bardsley for the 2-1 advantage.

Stephanie Logterman completed the scoring for Texas in the 32nd minute off a corner kick that sailed through the hands of Bardsley for the 3-1 advantage.

Welch got the Titans one goal closer with her fourth of the season in the 34th minute, chipping a ball over an outstretched Dianna Pfenninger in net to make it 3-2 at the half.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the final 45 minutes, despite a 12-4 advantage in the shot column and a 5-2 lead in corner kicks for Texas.

Bardsley made six saves on the day in the loss while six different players accounted for the Titans six shots. Three different Longhorns accumulated a match-high four shots.

Cal State Fullerton concludes its eight-match, month-long road trip next weekend with a trip to Bay Area to face San Francisco on Friday (Sept.22) and Santa Clara on Sunday (Sept. 24).
