FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team opened up the 2023 season with a 0-0 draw at home against Boston College.
It was an evenly matched game with both sides having 10 shots, 4-to-3 in saves, and 8-to-6 in corners. Both sides had their opportunities to win but neither side ultimately put one in the back of the net.
The Eagles (0-0-1) started the game with the ball in the Titans half and Mia Ranson was called into action early. Ranson again stepped up in the 38th minute after making a great save on a 1-v-1 with Boston College's Sydney Segalla.
The Titans (0-0-1) started attacking the Eagles after a nervy start and had their opportunity to score in the first half after substitute Kaylee Noble found herself behind the Eagles backline and saw her shot hit the underside of the crossbar. Laurie Ann Moise had a shot parried away by the keeper in the same sequence.
In the 65th minute, Boston College drew a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Mia Ranson played hero once again and made a great penalty save to keep the game scoreless.
Six Titans made their debut with Skye Johnson, Sail Bozinovic, and Taya Townsell each in the starting lineup. Kaylee Noble, Laurie Ann Moise, and Jenae Perez also made their Titan debuts off the bench. Vanessa Buso played her first minutes as a substitute in the second half since getting injured in September of 2019.

The Titans have a quick turnaround as they head to Provo, Utah to take on No. 13 BYU on Saturday at 6 PM PST.
