WSOC Picked Fourth, McGill and Raibon Garner Preseason All-Conference Honors

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the Big West Conference Preseason Coaches poll it was announced on Thursday. The league also announced the Preseason All-Big West team with Junior forward Makenna McGill and Sophomore defender Kaylin Raibon representing the Titans.  

   

Fullerton, who last year finished third in the regular season conference standings and were knocked out in the first round against UC Irvine in the Big West Championship, tallied 78 votes in fourth place and received one first-place vote. Long Beach State who finished in fourth place in the regular season and tournament runner ups were picked to finish in 1st place with 87 points and two first palce votes.  Last season's regular season champions Cal Poly were picked to finish second even though they had the most first place votes with 4.  The UC Irvine Anteaters who came in sixth place in the regular and eventual Big West Tournament champions were picked to finish third with 79 points and three first place votes.

The coaches selected 11 players representing ten teams to the 2022 preseason All-Big West Women's Soccer Team. The team consists of two graduate students, four seniors , four juniors and two sophomores. UC Davis, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, and Cal State Fullerton each had multiple representatives named to the team.  UC Davis, Hawai'i, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal Poly each had one representative named to the team.

Last year, Kaya Hawkinson was named to the All-Big West preseason team.  This is the first all-conference recognition for Kaylin Raibon and Makenna McGill.
