FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans defeated the UCSD Tritons 3-0 on Sunday evening in their Big West home opener at Titan Stadium.
It was the Megan Day & Meghan Schroh show tonight on set pieces as they combined for all the goals scored in the win over UCSD.
The Titans (5-3-3, 2-0 BWC) picked up all six points this weekend after defeating CSUN on Thursday night in their Big West conference opener. The Titans are on top of the Big West standings with six points and two games played.
The Titans finally found success on their set pieces as they scored on three corner kicks against the Tritons (1-7-3, 0-1-2 BWC).
The Titans top the Big West with 67 corner kicks but only scored on one piece prior to tonight's game in a Kaya Hawkinson free kick goal against UCLA.
The Titan scored their first goal of the game in the 32nd minute. Meghan Schroh found a wide open Megan Day near the back post and Day headed it in for her first goal of the season.

Unbelievably the Titans were able to repeat the same thing nearly five minutes later on another corner kick. Day once again out jumped her defender and headed it past the keeper for her second goal of the game. The center back didn't score a goal last season, but she did score three goals in her freshman campaign.

The Titans went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead. They outshot the Tritons 12-5 and were the aggressor for most of the half. The story would continue in the second half with the Titans totaling 24 shots to the Tritons 8 shots for the game.
In the 75th minute, the Titans would score again on a corner kick from Meghan Schroh. This time her ball bent perfectly over the keeper into the net for the 'Olimpico' style goal and Schroh's third career goal ever.

Mia Ranson had an efficient and quiet day in the cage after being called on to make three saves. Keara Fitzgerlad made 8 saves and did admirably for the Tritons to prevent it from being a bigger score for the Titans.
The Titans are on the road for the week ahead as they take on their two local rivals. They square off against Long Beach State on Thursday, September 29th at 7:00 p.m. before heading to UCI on Sunday to take on the Anteaters at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2nd.
