FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team lost in their final non-conference game of the season 2-1 at home on Saturday evening against the University of San Francisco Dons.

The Titans finish out their tough non-conference slate with a 3-3-3 record.

The Titans were playing from behind from near the very beginning of the match as Marissa Vasquez scored in the first minute of the game.  She had a speculative shot from the right of the 18-yard box sail into the top far corner into the net to give the Dons (5-1-3) an early lead.

The Dons would outshoot the Titans 18-to-3 in the first half.  And the final tally ended up being 31-to-9 for the game.  It's tied for the sixth most shots the Titans have allowed an opponent since Wake Forest did put 31 shots on the Titans in 2008.

The Titans came out aggressively in the second half and found the equalizer in the 50th minute.  Hailey Gough was able to find space down the left line and sent a cross to Karla Rodriguez who was able to save the ball from going across the endline and pass it to Sam McKenna.  McKenna chested the ball up in the air to Emelia Owen and Owen was able to volley it past the keeper and two Dons defenders on the line to make it a 1-1 game.

After that, the Dons were starting to put some more pressure on the Titans defense but time after time Mia Ranson rose to the occasion with save after save.  Ranson made 10 saves for the game for the Titans.

However in the 86th minute, Lindsey Chau found her way behind the Titans defense and was brought down in the box by Meghan Schroh.  Ranson guessed correctly on Ward Jamesen's penalty but the ball sailed just past her to give the Dons a 2-1 lead.

The Titans would have one more great chance in the 89th minute after Owen had a header saved on a cross but it was directly at the keeper and sailed into Megan Nail's hands.

The Titans will now start Big West play on Thursday, September 22nd at CSUN.  Kick-off is set for 7:00 pm at Matador Soccer Field.

NOTES: The Titans honored their 12 seniors in a pre-game ceremony before the game.  Katelin Bebe, Maddie Kline, Samantha McKenna, Megan Day, Kaya Hawkinson, Emelia Owen, Kaytlin Brinkman, Nadia Amezcua, Jaida Wilson, Nayeli Carcamo, Amanda Torres, and Malina Yago were a part of the ceremony.
